Chairman
Mr. Jones is a veteran crude oil and natural gas producer with over 40 years industry experience and serves in an advisory role for Jones Energy. After receiving a BS in geology from the University of Oklahoma, Mr. Jones joined his father and brother as a partner in their Albany, Texas firm. Active in industry affairs, Jon Rex served as president of the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) from 1983 to 1985 and received IPAA's highest honor "Chief Roughneck for 1998". Mr. Jones was named "Oilman of the Year" by the West Central Texas Oil and Gas Association, which he also served as president. He is a past President of the Texas Oil and Gas Association, serves on the Executive Committee of the U.S. Oil & Gas Association, and represents independent oil and gas producers on the National Petroleum Council. He served as the first Environmental Committee Chairman of the Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association and serves on the Environmental Committees of both the Interstate Oil & Gas Compact Commission and the IPAA. Currently, Mr. Jones is chairman of EnerVest Management Company, L.C., serves on the Board of Directors of the First National Bank Albany/Breckenridge and is active in church and civic affairs in Albany.
